wimbledon fever / the pale man

23 June 2008

Well, I won't be seeing much of Alice for the next two weeks. She's enjoying being off for the first summer in three years, so she's cozied up with the TV. Oh yeah, our third anniversary is Wed., so congrats to us. Wimbledon always reminds me of our anniversary because she tried to watch it all the way through our honeymoon. Hopefully in a year or two I'll pull off a trip to England for her to see it live.

We watched Pan's Labyrinth last night, and now this scene is burned in my memory. It conjures up all the bad dreams I used to have of something trying to grab my ankles and pull me down:

happy birthday to alice!

18 June 2008

Yesterday was Alice's birthday, so give her a call if you haven't already. We kept things simple and stayed in last night to watch the NBA Final and eat Harbee's Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza (by far the best in Knoxville).

Earlier we played with the Volley Llamas (and won all three games). During the second game Alice got an extra special birthday present from the largest guy on the team: a full-on body slam to the ground! They were both going for the ball and she went down HARD. Alice soldiered on for the next game but didn't feel so good afterwards. Hence, staying in for her birthday.

that's senor fish to you

We went to Senor Taco with Mrs. Davis, Wilson and Anne last night. Mrs. Davis ordered tilapia with garlic sauce and THIS is what came out:
In a Will Coteian moment, I took a picture of it to share with you. It was amazing. I'm already planning the next time I can take some bourgeoisie friends there and impress them with my adventurous taste. "You're going to eat that?" I'll respond with slightly disdainful, yet pitying, "Of course! You mean you thought Taco Bell was authentic Mexican?" Yes! Then I'll make the fish pretend to talk with its mouth and get Alice to barf.

the project i'll be working on for the next month

Here's the UT Federal Credit Union's Emory Road Branch, hot off the presses. We've got eight weeks to get this thing kicked out, so I'll be busy.

In other news, The Volley Llamas got spanked last night. A much better team toyed with us for a while before delivering the soul crushing coup de grace. Hopefully our new shirts will give us new hope.

Also, I still haven't taken a progress picture of the house. I know you've all been waiting with baited breath, but guess what- it's not finished. End of story. I'm so stressed about it right now that I'm considering turning to hard drugs. Anyhoo, I'll be over there this evening, so I'll try to remember to take a picture.

back from sunny florida

09 June 2008

Well, vacation is over. We had a great time with my family and Alice got to meet a lot of my family that lives down there, including my grandfather and Aunt Betty. I'm back in Knoxville, but Alice decided to stay up in Franklin for a few extra days (we had swung by to pick up our dogs who were being taking care of by her parents. So I'm bacheloring it up tonight, and getting caught up in the blog world.

I'll put some stuff up about the trip later, but I just wanted to put a quick post here to let all you avid readers know that I hadn't forgotten about you.
